Splash-Protection Face Shields: Overview
Designed to prevent the splash, spray and transfer of non-corrosive fluids.
Obscape is an environmental monitoring company which designs, manufacturers and supplies real time monitoring systems for industry. Our manufacturing base is located in South Africa while our administrative head office and distribution hub is in the Netherlands.
In addition to supporting critical infrastructure during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have decided to aid in the production of critical PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) of which there is currently a shortage. Our mission is to manufacture splash-protection face shields during this critical time, at or below pre-crisis market prices, to those in need in South Africa.
The product consists of a plastic sheet, fitted via a band around the forehead, to cover the front and sides of an adult face. It is provided in flat-pack form and is easily assembled by the user. It is designed to be disposable, but may potentially be reused a number of times. It may be worn in addition to a face mask and/or glasses.
Current Progress:
- Identified the critical shortage of splash-protection face shields;
- Procured raw materials and commenced low-yield production; and
- Initiated mass production of 40,000+ units, which will take place throughout April 2020.

Packaging:
Shields are provided in flat-pack form and are easily assembled by the user.
They are packaged in sealed plastic bags: 10 units per bag, 100 units per box. They are designed to be disposable, but may potentially be reused several times.
